AVP PARTNERS WITH CISCO SYSTEMS TO EVALUATE INNOVATIVE WAYS TO ACCELERATE TECHNOLOGY USE IN AFRICA

JOHANNESBURG 3 February 2006: AVP, as part of its efforts to develop a Telco focused network integration and ICT services business in Africa, recently partnered with world leading IP solutions company, Cisco Systems, to evaluate new business models to attack opportunities across the Continent.

The primary in-country research was conducted in 7 African countries namely; Senegal, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola and Mozambique.  The methodology involved structured interviews and discussions with selected executives of fixed and mobile telecommunication services providers as well as Public Sector officials.

The findings confirm that the telecoms sector in Africa is one of the most vibrant in the world, with deregulation starting to reach critical mass, and some real investment success stories. Voice related demand for increased coverage and capacity is still driving significant investment in telecommunications infrastructure.  AVP Telecoms will be soon announcing its plans for entering this fast growing area in the telecoms space.
